About Ranthambore National Park

Ranthambore covers 1,334 square kilometers in northern India. It was previously the private hunting ground of the Maharajas of Jaipur. Today, it operates as a protected wildlife reserve known for its Bengal tigers, dry deciduous forests, and lakes.

The park is divided into 10 regulated ecotourism zones. The core zones (1-5) close during the monsoon from July through September. You can read more about the areas in our Core Safari Zones guide. Safaris use either 6-seater Gypsy jeeps or 20-seater Canter open buses.

You must bring the original photo ID you used for booking to the entry gate. The trails become very dusty, so a mask is recommended. Check our guide on Packing for Ranthambore for more packing advice.

We went on three safaris and were lucky enough to see two times a tiger. The safaris were flawlessly organized, from pickup to the return to the hotel. Many Thanks and best regards to Guddu! He also gave me a digital camera so I could take pictures in the national park. Thank you!

We went on a dawn safari to zone 10. The pickup time was given to us the night before and transport arranged to the pickup from the hotel as promised. The guide and driver were both good. It was a scenic location but sadly, no tigers.

Six seater gypsy jeep picked us up at 6am. We were then driven to zone 10. Despite the guides best efforts we didnt see a tiger but did see a black bear and loads of other animals.

This tour was a great experience! Faisal, our driver, picked us up and was really friendly and organised. The journey to the fort was very fun and we were FORTunate to see a crocodile. Lunch was really good. We were in a 6 person keep for the safari which was really nice and although we did not see any tigers, we had a really lovely time.

5/5 experience! My driver Nitu was friendly, gift store stop off was fun, fort walkaround was scenic, restaurant meal was tasty (chips/plain naan available for those worried about food), and the tiger experience was great, saw two of them. Highly recommend!

Tariq and Samuel were amazing hosts for my trip to see Ronthambore from Jaipur. They were pleasant to talk to on the long drive and I felt very safe throughout. Plus I got to see tigers, which was incredible.

Driver brilliant. We extended for an extra night. Couldn't have been more helpful. The hotel is 95% indian food. Good job we like it. The car could do with an upgrade but i am 6'3". We didn't see a tiger but it was still a fantastic experience.
